American Radio Relay League
Vice Director, Delta Division
2003 - 2005
Representing ARRL at the 2000 OMIK Convention
I am Henry R. Leggette,
WD4Q relected as the Vice Director, Delta Division (Arkansas, Louisiana,
Mississippi and Tennessee) of The American Radio Relay League, Inc., 225 Main Street,
Newington, CT. 06111-1494. Our area is one of the fifteen (15) Divisions in the
United States. 0n November 15, 2002, I was re-elected for the term 2003 thru 2005.
One of my concerns is making the younger generations aware of amateur radio.
If you visit the ARRL Web Site, it is information and data to tell you how to become an amateur radio operator. The data will give you an indication of how people pursue the hobby of using a personal radio station to communicate, purely for non-commercial purposes, with other radio hobbyists call ham radio or amateur radio. They call themselves amateur radio operators, ham radio operators or just plain "hams".
Hams are always willing to help others who are excited about becoming a ham radio operator. You'll find additional information about how to locate ham radio operators in your local area on the ARRL Web Site.
Computers are an integral part of ham radio, and the Internet plays a large role to enhance technical knowledge of an individual. Amateur radio operators must meet several requirements in order to obtain a license. Welcome to the excitment of amateur radio and the only fail-safe communications system in the world.
Our Director and I worked well together on issues that will affect you in the Delta Division and the amateur radio community. We often weigh out the pro's and con's on all issues and make every effort to represent you fully. I feel all issues are important to you as an amateur radio operator and a member of ARRL. I will be there to represent your best interests in our highly technical hobby.
